Why do my feet sometimes burn when I'm trying to sleep at night? - what to wear on burns night

This does not happen all the time, but some nights when I sleep or sometimes in the middle of the night, the soles feel as though they were on fire. Wear socks to bed and usually only with a blanket over me. When they burn, sometimes I get up and put them into cold water to give and feel better. Has anyone any idea what this could lead to know, or treat them? As far as I know, I'm healthy.
